Jan 03, 2025 - Data update

As of jan 3, 2025, an additional 833 megawatts (MW) of solar have been energized in the State of Illinois. This increase is attributed to two very large utility-scale solar projects coming online in November 2024: the 592MW Double Black Diamond in Sangamon County and 140MW Wolf Run Solar in Morgan County.

Dec 02, 2024 - Data update

As of Dec 2, 2024, an additional 100 megawatts (MW) of solar have been energized in the State of Illinois. An additional 498 megawatts have been added to the planned queue.

Nov 02, 2024 - Data update

As of Nov 2, 2024, an additional 26 megawatts (MW) of solar have been energized in the State of Illinois. An additional 505 megawatts have been added to the planned queue.

Sep 27, 2024 - Top 10 largest solar projects

Illinois Solar Map is now showing the top 10 energized and top 10 planned solar projects in Illinois by megawatt on the Reference Tables page.

Sep 20, 2024 - Data update

As of Sept 20, 2024, an additional 136 megawatts (MW) of solar have been energized in the State of Illinois. An additional 393 megawatts have been added to the planned queue.

May 29, 2024 - Planned solar projects

Illinois Solar Map is now planned solar projects, in addition to energized projects.
